Cynthia Lumzy
Cynthia M. Lumzy is a seasoned, multicultural hairstylist from Dixon, Illinois. In 2010, Cynthia opened “My Alter Ego Salon,” becoming the only African American business owner currently in Dixon. Breaking through stereotype barriers, Cynthia is considered a hybrid stylist by being an African-American hairstylist with a 75% Caucasian clients. Her professionalism, creativity and expertise have placed her as one of the top stylists in the area, providing the small town community with “big city” style.
The starting point for Cynthia’s career was attending Duvardos Academy of Hair Design in Saint Louis, Missouri, where they provided her with the essential foundation to achieve her success. From there, her talents began to cultivate as an intern at Jon Tomas Salon and Spa in Creve Couere, Missouri. During this internship, she studied advanced color and cutting techniques and acquired a Redken Certification. This internship sparked her passion for hair coloring.
Throughout her career, Cynthia has trained with the industries top professionals to sharpen her skills and to expand her resume. Her main focus became corrective coloring.
Cynthia’s work has been featured and highly promoted in many hair publications. She has been published in Hairstare Magazine, Behindthechair.com online, Modern Salon magazine, and America Salon magazine. She is also promoted through social media via Facebook (Cynthia Lumzy) and Instagram (@cynthialumzy).
Her next adventure is to implement a training program. These classes will be focusing on universal coloring principals that will allow for crossing of color product lines with an emphasis on correction. The courses will also promote the importance of maintaining professionalism and ethics in the salon environment.
